THE POSITION

This position manages the permitting activities of the Environmental Unit and ensures compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and procedures. Within this role you will support various transportation projects by coordinating reviews, overseeing mitigation efforts, and guiding staff. As an Environmental Planning Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Permit Management: Oversee environmental permits including waterway, stormwater, and waste management requirements
- Technical Review: Evaluate project plans and hydrology reports to ensure compliance with regulations
- Agency Coordination: Work with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the Army Corps of Engineers, and other agencies to address permitting needs
- Staff Supervision: Lead environmental staff by assigning tasks, reviewing work, and supporting training needs
- Project Support: Assist project teams by monitoring mitigation efforts and ensuring proper documentation
- Compliance Oversight: Track environmental requirements before, during, and after construction activities
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part‑time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);
or - Six years of professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning;
or - A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and three years of progressively responsible professional environmental planning experience;
or - Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
