Are you ready to support programs that help communities recover and prepare for emergencies across Pennsylvania? Join the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) as an Administrative Officer 2 and strengthen critical disaster recovery and preparedness programs. This position plays a key role in helping communities access important state and federal resources. You will work with partners at many levels of government while supporting program operations.

This position helps manage state and federal disaster recovery and emergency preparedness grant programs. Through your work, you will support communities by ensuring that funding is used correctly and follows required guidelines. As an Administrative Officer 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Grant Oversight: Review and evaluate applications, reimbursement requests, and program activities for compliance with federal and state rules
  • Policy Development: Create and update policies, procedures, and guidelines used to administer disaster recovery and emergency preparedness grants
  • Program Monitoring: Track subrecipient grant balances, prepare status reports, and ensure all reporting requirements are met
  • Training Support: Assist in creating and delivering training related to grant administration and program requirements
  • Agreement Management: Develop grant agreements, process approvals, and maintain accurate records throughout the grant cycle
  • Communication Tasks: Prepare correspondence, respond to inquiries, and maintain strong working relationships with federal, state, county, and local partners

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes).

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
