Position: Probation Officer/Probation Officer-Bilingual (Spanish & English) Multiple Division/Locations)

Description

Join the New Jersey Judiciary as a Probation Officer in the 15th Vicinage. In this role you will support criminal, civil, and family court proceedings, interact with judges and court staff, and provide critical administrative services across Salem, Cumberland, and Gloucester counties.

Salary

Schedule A: $55,943.00 – $95,153.11
Schedule B: $55,943.00 – $91,346.99

Benefits

Hybrid work schedule with up to two remote work days. Possibility of reassignment within the vicinage and travel within the tri‑county area.

Responsibilities
  • Annotate calendars and maintain electronic and paper records.
  • Prepare court orders and case files, including exhibits for hearings and trials.
  • Monitor case flow and provide timely information to case managers and judges.
  • Operate court technology systems.
  • Enforce probation and court order conditions, including drug and urine testing.
  • Interview clients, prepare reports, and analyze case histories.
  • Conduct field visits to homes and jails.
  • Identify case‑management needs and refer clients to treatment programs and agencies.
  • Review submissions for compliance with court rules.
  • Conduct investigatory work, such as criminal history checks.
  • Make recommendations to judges and provide case preparation for hearings.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field, with 24 credit hours in behavioral or social sciences.
  • Applicants currently pursuing a degree may apply; degree must be completed by start date.
  • For candidates applying after graduation, provide a copy of the transcript.
  • Driver’s license may be required if vehicle operation is necessary.
  • U.S. citizenship is not required; must be authorized to work in the U.S. under DHS regulations.
  • All new hires will undergo a thorough background check, including fingerprinting.
