Overview

The Criminal Investigation Division of the West Virginia Department of Revenue seeks an Investigator to conduct investigations of tax violations and fraud under general supervision. The role involves field-based investigative work across multiple counties, including inspections, interviews, evidence gathering, and court testimony related to various state tax statutes. This is a full-time permanent position with flexible shift schedules and on-call status, requiring a valid driver's license and suitable home office space with high-speed internet.

• Conduct field-based investigations of tax violations and fraud under general supervision across multiple counties.
• Perform inspections, interviews, evidence gathering, and maintain thorough case documentation.
• Provide testimony in court related to findings and statutes.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, legal staff, and other agencies as needed; operate in a professional and confidential manner.
• Manage on-call duties and adapt to flexible shift schedules.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or one year of experience for every thirty semester hours substituted.
• One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in law enforcement, investigative work, or eligibility determination.
• Valid driver's license and availability of an automobile required.
• Qualification to possess and use firearms may be required.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, handle potentially dangerous situations, and maintain confidentiality.
