Job Title

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking self-starters interested in making a difference to perform the following duties in the New Jersey Trial Courts - Family Division.

The selected candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills as well as case management skills in order to perform the duties of the position. The selected candidate will regularly interact with judges, stakeholders, and the public. The selected candidate will be responsible to annotate calendars, provide information to judges, prepare court orders, manage case flow and/or monitor outcomes.

Additionally, this candidate will be required to answer questions posed by judges, the public, clients, customers, complainants, co-workers, subordinates and/or supervisors. Further, the selected candidate will be expected to provide quality customer service to court users and internal customers as well as maintain records and files both electronically and manually. The candidate will also be expected to utilize and become proficient in a number of information systems such as FACTS, JEDS, eCourts, NJKIDS as well as operate remote technology systems used by the court.

Finally, the selected candidate will be on call after hours on a rotating basis with their peers and be expected to perform other duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK:
The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Duties may include and are not limited to:

• Interview litigants regarding filing complaints and requesting modifications to their case.
• Conduct thorough case related research, paying close attention to details.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders, while performing live, real time in court functions and creating same day court orders.
• Navigate and perform daily tasks, using a multitude of computer systems.
• Making referrals to DCPP when appropriate as well as other client-based services as needed.
• Conducting urine screenings and home inspections as needed.
• Perform after-hours rotation for JDC Admission Duty.
• Facilitate conferences and make appropriate recommendations/referrals to address low level juvenile delinquency complaints.
• Work closely with law enforcement agencies to properly screen juvenile delinquency complaints.
• Complete a Risk Screening tool for juvenile detention requests and cross reference systems to ensure accuracy.
• Interview youth, guardians and appropriate agencies and prepare reports for the court.
• Interview Domestic Violence litigants regarding filing complaints and requesting modifications to their case.
• Prepare and present cases in court before Judges and hearing officers.

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any area, which includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in the behavioral or social sciences. Applicants who are approaching their anticipated graduation date may apply. If selected, the applicant must complete their degree no later than their start date. Applicants are required to submit a photocopy of their transcript at the time of application.

Open to employees of the Judiciary who have satisfactorily completed their Working Test Period in the career (classified) service title(s) and have an aggregate of at least one year of permanent service in the career (classified) service title(s) of Probation Officer or Probation Officer Bilingual.
