Performance Senior Auditor (State Senior Auditor/State Staff Auditor - Underfill Option)

We are hiring three (3) Permanent Performance Senior Auditors. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.

Underfill Option:
The goal of this recruitment is to fill these positions at the State Senior Auditor level; however, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the State Staff Auditor level to apply. If we are unable to fill these positions at the higher level, we will consider under filling at the State Staff Auditor level.

SALARY:
State Senior Auditor (C5682): $6,061 - $9,364/month Non-PERS $6,425 - $9,931/month PERS Underfill – State Staff Auditor (C5681): $5,781 - $7,700/month Non-PERS $6,130 - $8,160/month PERS

WHAT YOU WILL DO

We are recruiting for individuals to join our Performance audit team. This position offers a valuable opportunity to develop your analytical skills, contribute to meaningful public service, and grow within a team of dedicated audit professionals. In this role, you will support audit teams by gathering and analyzing information to understand the organizations under review, inform audit scope and planning, and produce audit recommendations that build trust and make a difference in Oregon state government.

This is accomplished in part by, but not limited to:

  • Reviewing laws, policies, and prior audits to understand the organization under audit.
  • Analyzing organizational structures, budgets, and procedures.
  • Identifying relevant laws, regulations, and criteria related to audit objectives.
  • Assisting in interviews with agency staff, stakeholders, and experts.
  • Researching standards to guide audit testing.
  • Assisting higher-level auditors with risk assessments and audit planning activities.
  • Documenting and formulating audit findings and conclusions.
  • Communicating audit information with internal management and the audited organization.

Your application must demonstrate education and/or experience in the following:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business or Public Administration, Public Policy, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or related field, AND One (1) year of professional level governmental audit experience conducting performance audits following Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS or Yellow book) for performance audits, or IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Audits (Redbook). OR An Associate’s degree or higher in Business or Public Administration, Public Policy, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or related field;

AND Three (3) years of professional level governmental audit experience conducting performance audits following Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS or Yellow book) for performance audits, or IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Audits (Redbook) for another state government comparable to the Oregon Secretary of State’s office. OR A combination of experience or education equivalent to five (5) years’ experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification, with up to three (3) years credit for professional level…
