Salary Range: $77,424 - $104,052 Annually

This is a telework/hybrid eligible position. The candidate of choice may work from anywhere within the state of Washington with a reliable internet connection. However, employees will be required to commute to Department Headquarters on an as needed basis.

This position is represented by the Teamsters 117 bargaining unit.

Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and interested in the intersection of technology, information, and public service? As a Management Analyst 3 (MA3) within the Information Governance Unit, you’ll play an important role in protecting the Washington State Department of Corrections’ information, improving efficiency, and supporting the Department’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The Management Analyst 3 assists with the management and analysis of electronic records and information while helping develop strategic goals and recommendations to support Information Governance program compliance. You’ll perform critical electronic searches, including eDiscovery, to support the Department’s Public Records response and other information governance activities.

In this role, you’ll serve as a consultant on unit-wide operations and performance, helping identify opportunities to improve processes, develop tools and strategies, and strengthen technical compliance. Your work will help mitigate organizational risk, increase efficiency, improve staff training, and ensure information is managed responsibly and effectively.

Through thoughtful analysis, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving, you’ll help safeguard DOC resources and reputation while supporting an information governance program that strengthens the Department’s ability to serve its employees, partners, and communities.

As a Management Analyst 3, some of your duties will include:
  • Serving as a technical resource to staff agency wide to facilitate agency compliance with public records requests, interagency requests, records and information management, and litigation discovery involving electronic records and information which could look like:
    • Providing technical assistance to staff as needed in retrieving, storing and transferring electronic records and information
    • Conducting daily search and retrieval of electronic information in its various formats (.pst’s, external drives, text messages, im’s, social media pages, portable drives, metadata, email, etc…)
    • Maintaining and updating electronic record and information specific trainings and presentations to provide to various levels of agency staff
    • Using software to apply audio and video red actions and exemptions
  • Conducting research and analysis in order to formulate recommendations regarding Information Governance statistics and trends to be used in developing strategic plans, goals and action plans including:
    • Independently collecting and analyzing public records statistics, creating both weekly, monthly, and annual reports that outline public disclosure trends for reporting to agency executive leadership and external agencies
    • Analyzing agency recording retention behavior and trends and report on agency wide compliance and efficiency
    • Reviewing quarterly and annual litigation trends tied to public records requests
  • Updating and maintaining internal and external sites and systems to keep both the agency and the public educated and informed regarding DOC Information Governance policy and practice
  • Other duties as assigned
