The Opportunity

ENTRY LEVEL CAREER OPPORTUNITY OFFERING:
Bonus incentives, paid certifications, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive benefits, and career advancement opportunities. This position pays between $17-$18.15/hr based on experience. This is an onsite role, and candidates must be able to work on-site at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, TX.

We are searching for the next Patient Access Specialist champion. This role is responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital, while meeting the mission and goals of the organization and all regulatory compliance requirements. The Representative will work within the policies and processes as they are implemented across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient admissions duties including assigning MRNs, completing medical necessity/compliance checks, collecting insurance information, receiving and processing physician orders, and utilizing an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard and manage inquiries with appropriate compassion and adherence to policies.
  • Meet point-of-service goals and use quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected; include accounts across departments and facilities as needed.
  • Conduct audits of accounts and ensure forms are completed accurately and timely to meet audit standards; provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
  • Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information, including point-of-service collections and past-due balances with payment plan options.
  • Explain and obtain signatures on consent forms and distribute patient education documents (e.g., Medicare/Tricare notices, observation forms, MOON form, etc.).
  • Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system and support POS and billing processes to aid clean claim rates.
  • Screen for medical necessity using ABN software to inform Medicare patients of potential non-payment and distribute ABN as appropriate.
Experience & Qualifications
  • 1+ year of customer service experience.
  • Minimum Education:

    High School Diploma/GED.
  • Required

    Certifications:

    CRCR (to be obtained within 9 months of hire; company paid).
