Dispensing Pharmacist

Join PRO-spectus’ Addison, Texas pharmacy as a key member of the pharmacy team, responsible for safe, accurate, and timely medication dispensing to support patient access and adherence solutions.

Base pay range

$130,000 – $140,000 / yr

Pharmacy Operations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws governing the practice of pharmacy and drug distribution.
  • Perform day‑to‑day dispensing activities, including prescription verification, clinical review, product selection, and final check prior to medication release.
  • Support timely processing and review of prescription orders/referrals in alignment with case management workflows to help patients transition efficiently from referral to therapy initiation.
  • Maintain accurate data entry and patient, prescriber, and prescription records within the pharmacy management system.
  • Collaborate with the Supervising Pharmacist (PIC) to maintain compliance with Texas Board of Pharmacy requirements and internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels, expiration dating, recalls, and controlled substance record‑keeping, in coordination with pharmacy technicians.
  • Support implementation and daily use of pharmacy technology solutions, including the pharmacy management system, e‑prescribing tools, and integrations with Patient Services platforms.
  • Contribute feedback and ideas to optimize pharmacy workflows, reduce turnaround times, and support operational excellence.
Clinical Support
  • Partner closely with Patient Services teams to align dispensing activities with benefit verification, prior authorization, and appeals workflows.
  • Provide clinical input on dosing, administration, potential interactions, and therapy monitoring to support high‑quality case handling.
  • Conduct direct patient counseling (telephonic, virtual, or in‑person) regarding medication use, expected outcomes, side effects, storage, and adherence strategies.
  • Support clinical programs designed to improve adherence and overall patient experience, including onboarding calls, refill reminders, and targeted outreach.
  • Assist in developing pharmacy‑driven clinical initiatives that align with manufacturer program goals and PRO‑spectus’ patient access mission.
Skills and Requirements
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication management, and regulatory requirements in a dispensing environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient‑centered care and comfort working closely with Patient Services and cross‑functional partners.
  • Strong independent, self‑starter work style with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in all dispensing activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex clinical information in a clear and empathetic way to patients and internal partners.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and pharmacy technology platforms; ability to learn new systems quickly.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
  • BS or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm

    D) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
  • Active Texas pharmacy licensure in good standing (additional state licenses a plus).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of pharmacy experience (preferably 2+ years of pharmacy leadership experience).
  • Board certification in pharmacotherapy or certified specialty pharmacy or other relevant specialty (optional but preferred).
  • Willingness to obtain additional state licensures is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Keyboarding, speaking on the phone, and using virtual platforms.
  • Ability to stand for portions of the day while working within the pharmacy as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
