Aboutthe Role
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Behavioral Health Physician Assistant, or APRN provides direct psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This role combines clinical acumen with a patient-centered, trauma-informed approach to care. The provider will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated treatment and high-quality outcomes through both telehealth and in-person care models.
WhatYou ll Do
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Provide medication management, including initiation and ongoing monitoring of psychotropic and medication-assisted treatments (MAT), such as buprenorphine, naltrexone, and Vivitrol.
- Deliver care in compliance with evidence-based practices and within scope of licensure.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, case managers, and medical staff to support integrated behavioral health care.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, side effects, and recovery goals.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) consistent with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and organizational standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and clinical supervision as required.
- Stay current with best practices in psychiatric and addiction medicine through continuing education.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant Studies.
- Active, unrestricted Vermont license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), APRN, or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
- High levels of patient engagement and treatment adherence.
- Accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of all patient encounters.

Requirements- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant Studies.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, or addiction medicine preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active, unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), APRN, or Physician Assistant (PA-C) in Vermont.
- DEA registration with buprenorphine waiver (preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Competencies:
- Strong diagnostic and psychopharmacologic skills.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care models.
- Familiarity with telehealth delivery and electronic medical record systems.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and collaboration skills.
- This is a part-time, remote position.
