Position: STNA (Therapeutic Program Worker) - 3rd Shift (11:00PM-7:30AM)

Overview

A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting Hourly Pay: $22.60 per hour ($47,008 annually)
  • 1st Raise in 6 Months: increase to $22.96 per hour
  • $500 bonus after 120 days and another $500 bonus after one year
  • Multiple pay increases over your years of service
  • Shift differential pay for 2nd & 3rd shift
  • Longevity increases start at your fifth year and grow as long as you stay with the State of Ohio

What does a Therapeutic Program Worker do at the Veterans Homes?

A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities.

  • Assists with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, assist with feeding
  • Transport and attends activities or programs with residents
  • Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation
  • Observe & report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse
  • Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas
  • Applies safety & infection control measures
  • Assists with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
  • Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge & transfer of residents

Education and qualifications broadly include formal arithmetic and English language skills. In the Department of Developmental Disabilities, a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalence is required, with further qualifications as noted by law. For Veteran Services positions, STNA certification and/or placement on the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry may be required. For roles requiring operation of a motor vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required.

Working Conditions:
