The Hope Services Homestart program is hiring Speech Language Pathologists to provide 1:1 services to infants and toddlers with developmental needs in a mostly home-based program; occasional sessions occur at our office.
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) – provides 1:1 services to infants and toddlers with developmental needs in a home-based program, with some sessions at the office. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities- Function independently and autonomously in providing home and/or clinic-based speech therapy to infants and families, and maintain an assigned caseload.
- Provide evaluation and treatment addressing speech and language development domains.
- Perform comprehensive speech pathology assessment of infants and identify neurological sequelae; develop and implement treatment plans based on assessment findings.
- Perform oral-motor assessment and identify oral-motor pathology and language disorders; provide therapy as indicated.
- Provide updated developmental information at scheduled IEPs and IFSPs; establish appropriate goals and objectives.
- May provide clinical oversight to speech pathology students pursuing licensure.
- Presents in-service trainings to Hope staff and provides trainings to outside agencies (optional).
- Collaborate with physicians and outside agencies regarding developmental and other health-related issues.
- Act as consultant to other agency professionals including physical therapists, occupational therapists and developmental specialists; provide clinical oversight of speech pathology students.
- May perform other duties as assigned to ensure program efficiency.
The Speech Language Pathologist should possess a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, plus a State license as a Speech-Language Pathologist. 1+ year of related experience with children or people with disabilities is a plus.
Required Knowledge,Skills And Abilities
- Basic computer skills in word processing; ability to observe, evaluate, document and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team member with coworkers, clients and families; willingness to accept supervision.
- Knowledge of disabilities and syndromes; ability to use critical thinking in decision-making; good organizational and record-keeping skills; good independent judgment.
- Knowledge of infant assessment and developmental activities; understanding of team and family dynamics; flexibility with scheduling and task prioritization.
Considerable travel in the community; work primarily in the client’s home with occasional sessions at the office. Lifting, moving, stretching, walking and crawling during training activities with the child and family. Exposure to outdoor conditions, dust and pollens. Some computer work and periods of intense concentration.
