This position is open to current Colorado residents only. Full‑time and part‑time positions available. Office of Adult, Aging and Disability Services. This position will receive a short‑staffing temporary pay differential of 4% from July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.
Job OverviewColorado State Veterans Community Living Center at Rifle provides 89 beds of skilled nursing care, including a 18‑bed Special Care Unit for residents with Alzheimer’s Disease or related conditions. Serving veterans, their spouses and eligible “Gold Star” parents, the facility is committed to caring for the whole person and providing a life of dignity for every resident.
PrimaryJob Duties
- Daily Nursing Care:
Provide basic nursing care including bathing, feeding, dressing, transferring, ambulating, positioning, lifting, range of motion, toileting, skin care, and social interaction; assist with FMP programs. - Assist nursing staff with resident safety, use of assistive devices, mobility aids, equipment and gait belts; perform CPR as needed.
- Safety:
Use correct lifting techniques, monitor environment and resident whereabouts; perform basic assessments (weights, vital signs, bowel/bladder, intake/output); record data; implement infection control; conduct equipment checks and maintenance. - Communication:
Inform RNs and LPNs of resident condition changes; maintain therapeutic milieu; manage equipment such as oxygen concentrators and lift batteries; participate in restorative/GAPA meetings. - Transports:
Transport residents to medical appointments using state vehicles when necessary; attend training and staff meetings; provide inter‑shift communication.
- High school diploma or GED and at least one year of professional experience as a CNA or in equivalent duties.
- Valid nurse aide certification (CNA) from Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, or a valid practical nursing license (LPN) from Colorado or a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- Current active RN license renewal required.
- Full background check, TB test, and driver’s license required.
- Shift work: day, evening, night, including holidays and weekends.
- On‑call rotation as defined in facility protocol.
