Moab Regional Hospital is seeking detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our Health Information Management.
Compensation:
Non-Certified - $20-$22/hr
Certified - $24-$27/hr
JOB SUMMARYThe medical coder is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes to support compliant billing, reimbursement, and reporting. This role plays a key part in maintaining revenue integrity and coding accuracy across assigned specialties.
Preferred schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 pm.
Work Location:
Onsite or Remote (based on experience and department needs)
- Review medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, including applicable modifiers.
- Code records for multiple specialties as assigned; experience coding different is highly valued.
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with official coding guidelines, payer requirements, and hospital policies.
- Maintain established productivity and accuracy standards while prioritizing quality and compliance.
- Participate in internal and external audits, education, and ongoing quality initiatives.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
- Support departmental projects and complete additional duties assigned by leadership.
- Demonstrated experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding
- Ability to review and interpret clinical documentation from a variety of specialties and patient types.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Effective time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in using Electronic Health Record (Meditech is a plus) and coding software (3M Encoder).
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current coding credential preferred (AAPC or AHIMA)
- 1-3 years medical coding experience preferred; hospital or multi-specialty experience is a plus.
