Remote Risk Adjustment Coder (Virginia): up to $78,000/year!
Health Care Support is actively seeking a Remote Risk Adjustment Coder II to support a growing healthcare organization’s Virginia market. This role focuses on accurate HCC risk adjustment coding, provider education, and collaboration with clinical teams to improve documentation quality and compliance across Medicare Advantage, ACO, and Commercial populations. This is a remote position with quarterly travel to provider offices within Virginia.
ShiftMonday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm EST
Compensation Notes$65,000 – $78,000+/year
Daily Responsibilities For Remote Risk Adjustment Coder II- Review and audit medical records for accurate HCC risk adjustment coding (ICD-10).
- Educate providers through 1:1 and group sessions (in-person and virtual) on documentation improvement and coding accuracy.
- Collaborate directly with physicians and clinical staff to address coding, compliance, and audit-related questions.
- Support internal and external audits, quality initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
- Track productivity and performance metrics, including coding volume and chart review targets.
- Review an average of 50 complete member records per day.
- Utilize reporting tools and systems to generate, manipulate, and present data related to coding outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation within CRM and tracking systems.
- Stay current on CMS, payer, and regulatory guidelines related to risk adjustment.
- Serve as a senior resource by supporting training, mentoring, and project-based initiatives.

- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) AND Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) through AAPC.
- 3+ years of hands‑on risk adjustment coding experience.
- Must be open to traveling to provider sites within Virginia at least once per quarter (travel reimbursed).
- Reliable transportation and valid Driver’s License.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (reports, pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint.
- Experience using EHR systems and healthcare coding software.
