Referral Coordinator

Overview

Sentara Health is currently seeking a full-time remote Referral Coordinator. This is a remote position and you must be located near Sentara Independence in Virginia Beach or Hampton Roads area. You must be able to travel on-site for training, connectivity issues, or as needed for meetings.

• Provides a direct link between patients, primary care providers, specialty providers, and insurance companies.

• High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED

• No specific certification or licensure requirements

• 1 year of Health Insurance Plans experience REQUIRED
• Experience in a high-volume call center preferred
• Medical terminology preferred
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payers
• One year of experience with insurance verification/referral processing preferred
• Knowledge of EPIC preferred
• Proficient in use of computers and excellent organizational skills

Sentara Independence provides quality outpatient services to the surrounding community. The facility includes an ambulance-accessible emergency room that is supported by board‑certified physicians. Sentara Independence houses state‑of‑the‑art medical equipment and highly‑skilled physicians and staff. Sentara Independence is now an extension of the quality services at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital including advanced imaging and physical therapy.
