Overview

Sentara is hiring a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

Full Time (40 hrs/wk), Rotating (8 hour shift),

Hours:

6am-11pm (occasional overnight coverage), Weekends:
Every Other Weekend, Holiday Rotation:
Hours may vary to meet pharmacy staffing needs.

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program and certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire is required
• Must register as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program

• Certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire in the state of practice is required

Located in Norfolk, VA, it is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
