Bilingual Mental Health Counselor

Position
Description:
The Bilingual Mental Health Counselor provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions and services to children and their families to address a wide range of identified behavioral and emotional concerns. Responsibilities include conducting intakes and assessments, as well as providing individual and family counseling services. Services are delivered virtually, at Houston-area office locations, and potentially schools across the Houston area, including Baytown.
Experience/
Skills Required:
* Fluent in Spanish. English Required.
* Master's in social work or related human services field.
* Fully licensed as an LMSW; or
* Provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate, or LMFT-Associate.
* Passed licensure examination to obtain LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate.
* Employment is contingent upon obtaining full/provisional licensure within 90 days of hire.
Experienced/Skills Preferred:
* Entry level acceptable with one year's experience.
* Experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to relate well to children and families in crisis.
* Comfortable with complexity, advocacy, and mediation.
* Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Good paperwork and organizational skills.
* Ability to submit all documentation electronically and in the office timely.
* Knowledge of social work practices.
* Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work collaboratively with fellow staff and referral sources.
* Ability to maintain a professional, confidential working environment.
* Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
* Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.

-Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm (vary according to client schedule)
* Travel:
Frequent - Must have reliable personal transportation, valid Texas driver license and current auto insurance.
Grant Funded Position:
This position is funded through October 2026. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding. DePelchin is actively pursuing additional funding to support the continuation and long-term sustainability of this role.
