Nutrition Educators provide professional assessment of the nutritional status of WIC applicants, determine eligibility, and provide nutritional counseling of WIC participants.

Mission: To promote, protect, and enhance the health of all in Sherburne County.

This position’s work locations will include the Government Center in Elk River, community locations, and work from home. Our regular business hours are Monday‑Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., though the department provides staff with flexibility in effort to strive for a desired work/life balance. Sherburne County is one of the fastest growing counties in Minnesota, where you can find a nice blend of suburban and rural life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Screen applicants for WIC program eligibility.
  • Collect and evaluate client health information, nutritional intake, anthropometric and hematological data.
  • Determine WIC eligibility, collect and maintain client data, respond to client questions.
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants at the appropriate learning level, develop care plans for at‑risk WIC participants.
