In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management for environmental services, specifically in federal healthcare and government settings. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulations, infection prevention, and environmental safety across multiple locations.
The ideal candidate will lead a team dedicated to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and operational excellence. While primarily remote, occasional travel may be necessary to meet contract requirements.
- Provide leadership and direct oversight of environmental services operations across healthcare or institutional facilities
- Develop and enforce daily cleaning schedules, sanitation procedures, and room turnover standards
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfecting, and waste handling practices in patient rooms, operating areas, public spaces, and high-touch environments
- Monitor compliance with infection prevention protocols and isolation procedures
- Conduct routine quality inspections of housekeeping staff performance and facility cleanliness
- Train, mentor, and evaluate supervisors and frontline housekeepers
- Implement corrective actions when sanitation standards are not met
- Oversee linen handling, regulated medical waste disposal, and hazardous material protocols
- Manage inventory and proper storage of cleaning chemicals and disinfectants
- Ensure adherence to OSHA safety standards and environmental health regulations
- Coordinate with nursing, facilities management, and safety teams to support patient care environments
- Active Certified Environmental Services Executive (CESE) certification (required)
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in environmental services or housekeeping, including supervisory or management responsibility
- Hands‑on knowledge of hospital‑grade cleaning procedures and infection control practices
- Experience supervising housekeeping teams in healthcare or large institutional settings
- Working knowledge of CDC, OSHA, and Joint Commission environmental standards
- Experience conducting quality inspections and staff performance evaluations
- Strong understanding of cleaning chemistry and equipment maintenance
- Ability to train and enforce safe handling of chemicals and PPE
