*** GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
** Assign ICD and CPT/Surgery codes and abstracting to outpatient medical record types including ED, Clinic, Urgent Care, and Ancillary from a full-time remote location in accordance with the department’s established accuracy and productivity requirements.

* Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
* Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
* Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
* Reviews the medical record and assigns the appropriate ICD and CPT codes.
* Codes assigned outpatient record types daily.
* Monitors the “uncoded DNB” work queue.
* Codes records in a timely manner.
* Maintains satisfactory coding performance in accordance with the department’s accuracy target and productivity requirements for each record type.
* Abstracts data into the patient abstract fields.
* Responds to coding requests from internal and external customers, i.e. business office, physician office.
* Requests diagnosis from physician’s office as needed.
* Participates in attending educational programs, hospital and departmental staff meeting.
* Performs other duties as required by Manager and/or Director.
** EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

*** High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Associate's degree (A.

A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* 1
-2 years’ experience coding in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
** CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
** Certified as any of the following: CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H, RHIT or RHIA. Must maintain continuing education hours to maintain certification.locations:
