The Mental Health Counselor provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions and services to children and their families to address a wide range of identified behavioral and emotional concerns. Responsibilities include conducting intakes and assessments, as well as providing individual and family counseling services. Services are delivered virtually, at Houston-area office locations (including our Texas City Family Resource Center, up to five days per week), and potentially schools across the Houston area, including Baytown.

• Master’s in social work or related human services field
• Fully licensed as an LMSW; or
• Provisionally licensed as an LPC-Associate, or LMFT-Associate
• Passed licensure examination to obtain LMSW, LMFT-Associate, or LPC-Associate
• Employment is contingent upon obtaining full/provisional licensure within 90 days of hire

• Fluent in Spanish. English Required
• Entry level acceptable with one year's experience
• Experience in case management, crisis intervention, or child welfare

• Ability to relate well to children and families in crisis
• Comfortable with complexity, advocacy, and mediation
• Strong ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Good paperwork and organizational skills
• Ability to submit all documentation electronically and in the office timely
• Knowledge of social work practices
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
• Ability to work collaboratively with fellow staff and referral sources
• Ability to maintain a professional, confidential working environment
• Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and workforce
• Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs

  Frequent - Must have reliable personal transportation, valid Texas driver license and current auto insurance

This position is funded through October 2026. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding. DePelchin is actively pursuing additional funding to support the continuation and long-term sustainability of this role.
