Job Overview
The Student Health and Counseling Center is seeking a State of Alaska licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for a part‑time, term‑exempt position. The role focuses on supporting students through assessment, diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health needs in a student‑centered environment.
Responsibilities- Conduct assessments and screenings for a broad range of acute and chronic mental health conditions.
- Diagnose and treat mental health conditions independently, including prescribing and managing psychiatric medications.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests in compliance with CLIA standards.
- Coordinate referrals with primary care and specialty providers.
- Provide crisis intervention and maintain timely, accurate electronic medical record documentation.
- Lead health education and prevention initiatives in partnership with campus and community partners.
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited postsecondary institution and five years relevant postgraduate professional experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- OR Doctorate in a relevant field with clinical internship and four years relevant postgraduate professional experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Appropriate state licensure required; active RN license, Master’s or Doctoral degree (MSN/DNP/PMC) from an accredited program.
- Certification in a specialty area (e.g., ANCC or AANP) and a Federal DEA number for prescribing medications may be required.
- Advanced knowledge of general medicine and behavioral health, with the ability to evaluate and treat complex cases.

New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience.
