Position OverviewThe Virtual Medical Assistant provides remote clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers and care teams. In this role, you will assist with patient coordination, documentation, communication, and medical record management while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy.
This is a fully remote position requiring strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide virtual administrative and clinical support to physicians and healthcare teams
Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-ups
Verify insurance information and assist with eligibility checks
Document patient interactions accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Obtain and review medical records, lab results, and other clinical documentation
Assist with patient intake, including updating medical histories and medication lists
Respond to patient inquiries via phone, secure messaging, or patient portals
Support prescription refill requests and prior authorizations as directed
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all healthcare privacy regulations
Collaborate with internal and external healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred
Strong knowledge of medical terminology
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Comfortable working independently in a remote setting
1+ year of experience in a clinical or healthcare setting
Prior experience with remote or virtual healthcare support preferred
Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations is a plus
