Position: Credentialing Coordinator (HSC 2) DOH8849

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with scheduled onsite work at our DOH facility in Tumwater, approximately 1 day per month.

The Opportunity

Join our team as a journey level professional. The Credentialing Coordinator acts as the subject matter consultant and coordinator for highly specialized and multi‑faceted licensing within the HSQA Credentialing Section, a public health program closely linked to the Department's mission. You will identify and resolve highly complex and unique problems and issues related to licensing legislation and policy and recommend ways to improve the operating efficiency of credentialing processes within and between work groups, agencies, and partners.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Credentialing Performance Management and Quality Assurance:
  • Monitors and ensures the quantity, quality, and timeliness of credentialing work products and customer service.
  • Establishes performance standards, measuring and reporting results, and using results to plan improvements.
  • Defines specific criteria to be used in detecting and interpreting trends and patterns of irregularities in the credentialing process. Analyzes credentialing unit workload for compliance with agency timelines and process requirements. Coordinates processing interactions among HSQA work units and programs to keep workflow and applications moving toward completion.
  • Participates in audits and quality reviews by internal and external quality assurance staff or regulators.
  • Applies quality improvement tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall quality.
  • Gathers data and reporting on credentialing productivity, producing status and information as requested by management.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure best practices, assists in the development of processes and procedures to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of credentialing duties.
Provides technical consultation and assistance to health service providers and staff on difficult questions and complex, non‑standard regulatory and licensing activities for Credentialing.
  • Interprets, trains and explains licensing laws. Provides ongoing support for changes in credentialing functions as laws and rules change and/or new professions or facilities are added.
  • Assists Credentialing Specialists with new applicant credentialing, delegated credentialing, and ongoing maintenance of credentials.
  • Produces and analyzes licensing reports.
  • Instructs and ensures proper and accurate intake and contact data entry.
  • Assists with online and standard verifications.
  • Provides ongoing support for changes in credentialing functions as rules change and/or new professions or facilities are added.
  • Provides guidance, technical expertise, and detailed quality review of work products and acts in the Approver role in the automated system.

Three (3) or more years of experience in the following:

  • Analyzing data and reports, and making recommendations based upon the analysis.
  • Regulatory experience in a health services program.
  • Working with a complex regulatory, permitting, or licensing database.
