Position: (3075) Licensed Clinician – Jail Based Competency Restoration Program

The Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (BTCS) Jail Based Competency Restoration (OCR) LPHA is one member of a multidisciplinary treatment team offering psychiatric evaluation, medication evaluation and management, cognitive behavior therapy, curriculum-based competency restoration education, motivational interviewing and treatment planning. The Licensed Clinician requires the development and maintenance of effective, professional working relationships with jail and court personnel. A high level of detailed electronic documentation is required and adherence to company and state guidelines is expected.

The Licensed Clinician is responsible for:

  • Administering clinical screening and assessments, including screening candidates for program admission
  • Facilitating individual and group competency restoration services using approved curriculum
  • Providing individual therapy, when clinically appropriate & written participant updates to the courts.
  • Collaborate with the JBCR treatment team, jail and court personnel
  • Informing needs assessments, Person-Centered Recovery Plans, and aftercare plans in preparation for jail release and/or transitions back to general population

This position reports directly to the JBCR Program Manager and requires the development and maintenance of effective, professional working relationships with the legal stakeholders and other community services providers. This is a Monday through Friday, exempt and primarily jail-based position, that can include remote work with approval from supervisor or executive management team. The JBCR LPHA must possess a passion and aptitude for working with individuals who have chronic and severe behavioral health needs and are involved in the criminal justice system are required.

This position necessitates innovative thinking, patience, resiliency, skills in advocacy, service coordination, mental health assessments and evaluation, collaborative person-centered recovery planning and dual-diagnosis treatment. The person in this position will effectively work independently and on a team, prioritize needs during crisis situations, and engage in regular training opportunities.

Hourly Salary Range: $32.41 – $ 43.66

  • Up to $2.00/hour – Previous experience with a community center in Texas in a similar role
  • Up to $3.50/hour – Previous crisis experience
  • Up to $4.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS
  • $1.00/hour – Ph.D
  • .75/hour – Bilingual

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be fully licensed in Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Psychologist.
Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in direct care of persons with a serious mental illness.
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, meet Bluebonnet Trails Community Services driving requirements, and maintain approved driving status throughout employment.
Must pass relevant background checks for working inside the jail.
