Hospital Coding Specialist III; Remote

• Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines
• Assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex inpatient services
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists on documentation concerns
• Prepare responses to DRG validation requests and third‑party payer inquiries
• Review medical record documentation to identify reportable diagnoses and procedures

• Minimum education:
  
  AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree
• Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
• Active credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding procedures
• Ability to work collaboratively and address documentation concerns

• Experience with electronic health record systems
• Experience in academic or level I or II trauma settings
• AAPC credential, with preference for CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
