The MQSA Field Specialist is responsible for ensuring the breast center's full compliance with the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation standards. This role involves the meticulous management of all documentation and records, supporting quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and annual inspection processes. The specialist works closely with medical physicists, radiologists, and technologists to maintain and organize all required paperwork to the highest standards.

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or Quality Assurance, is preferred.
- Proven experience in a healthcare or regulatory environment, with direct experience handling MQSA or related compliance paperwork.
- Experience in a breast imaging center or radiology department is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and ACR accreditation requirements.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, management, and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent computer proficiency, including experience with data management systems, spreadsheets, and document tracking software.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks to meet strict and/or immediate deadlines.
- Discretion and understanding of patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Documentation Management:
- Maintain and organize all personnel qualification records for interpreting physicians, medical physicists, and mammography technologists, including certifications and continuing education documentation.
- Conduct all-inclusive reviews of all mammography quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) records, including daily, weekly, and monthly, semi-annual, and annual test results documentation.
- Ensure all official mammography reports, lay summaries, and patient communication logs are accurately documented and stored according to MQSA standards.
- Oversee documentation for all imaging equipment, including annual medical physicist surveys, service and repair records, and equipment evaluations.
- Compliance and Inspection Readiness:
- Prepare and organize all required documentation for annual MQSA inspections and ACR accreditation reviews.
- Support ACR accreditation and renewals including image review prior to submission.
- Act as a liaison between the breast center and regulatory inspectors, facilitating smooth and efficient inspections. And fostering positive, collaborative relationships with the Center Teams and Regulatory personnel.
- Review all documentation for accuracy and completeness, proactively identifying and correcting any deficiencies to ensure the facility is always MQSA, ACR, State, and Joint Commission inspection ready.
- Maintain and support a robust tracking system for MQSA personnel qualifications and equipment maintenance to prevent lapses.
- Administrative and Reporting:
- Assist in conducting regular audits of patient records to ensure completeness and proper reporting of results.
- Support the medical outcomes audit process by assisting with the collection and analysis of patient data.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the overall quality assurance program within the breast imaging department.
