We are delighted to offer this opportunity to work on a 30‑month programme of research funded by NIHR and entitled “The SAfe-Home-Meds Study (SAHMS):
Co‑designing and implementing a medicines management safety system for use in homecare.”
The overall aim of this programme is to improve medicines safety in homecare through co‑designing and feasibility testing a medicines safety system. The research will provide actionable insight for care users and carers, social and healthcare organisations, policy makers, regulators, managers and staff. The work comprises three stages: qualitative research to understand how medicines safety is currently achieved in homecare; co‑design of new tools and processes to manage medicines;
and a feasibility study to understand if we are able to implement changes into homecare systems.
This post is key in achieving the programme aim by organising and planning delivery of the work‑packages that make up this programme of work.
Main duties of the job- Planning, developing and delivering this research programme and supporting the translation of findings into outputs and practice.
- Communicating complex information and achieving agreements across the academic and clinical institutions in the region.
- Working with the co‑Investigators in each work package to co‑ordinate the research team to deliver the programme to time and within budget.
- Ensuring effective governance of the research.
There will also be opportunities for writing for publication, working with lay members of the team and developing your own career as a leader in research.
About usThis post will be based within the Yorkshire Quality and Safety Research (YQSR) Group. The YQSR has an established record of collaboration and multidisciplinary working to address key, clinically relevant questions in patient safety. It is a collaborative, solution‑focused and enthusiastic team that includes social and safety scientists, clinical academics, research nurses and data specialists.
Supported by patient panels and lay leaders and with extensive collaborations with the Universities of Bradford, Leeds and York, we conduct high‑quality applied health research to make care safer. Strong links with policy, regulatory, patient and clinical networks mean that we have established pathways to impact for the research that we engage in. The group is housed within a bespoke research institute (BIHR) and, being located on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site, has real and lasting research relationships with both local and national clinicians with easy transport links to elsewhere in the region.

Job responsibilitiesThe programme of work involves using a three‑stage mixed‑methods design conducted in three regions in England (West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North Cumbria) to ensure diversity of care users, homecare workers, and workforce configurations.
