Healthcare Administration
The Follow-Up Specialist is responsible for managing assigned accounts receivable and resolving outstanding insurance claims in a timely and compliant manner. This role focuses on payer communication, claim status investigation, and basic denial resolution to ensure optimal reimbursement and reduced aging.
Essential Function- Review and manage assigned AR work queues daily
- Contact insurance payers via phone and portal to obtain claim status
- Identify and resolve basic denials including eligibility, timely filing, and missing information
- Correct claim errors and resubmit claims as appropriate
- Document all follow-up activity accurately in the system
- Escalate complex denials to Denial Specialist when appropriate
- Meet productivity and quality benchmarks established by leadership Assist with reducing aged AR and payer-specific backlog
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Work Experience1–2 years of medical billing or AR follow- up experience
CertificationsNot required
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier basics
- Familiarity with payer requirements and reimbursement processes
- Strong communication skills for payer interaction
- Ability to interpret EOBs and remittance codes
- Time management and workload prioritization skills Analytical thinking to identify recurring issues

Pay range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to market data, education, experience, qualifications, and experience, qualifications, and expertise of the individual and internal equity considerations.
