Position Summary
Bright Shadows Telepsychiatry Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Therapist to provide mental health counseling services to children, adolescents, and families. The Child Therapist will deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions that support emotional regulation, behavioral development, family functioning, and overall mental wellness. This role involves collaboration with parents/guardians, psychiatric providers, schools, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure comprehensive treatment planning and continuity of care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities- Provide individual therapy services to children and adolescents.
- Conduct age-appropriate biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans addressing emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
- Provide family therapy and parent coaching when clinically appropriate.
- Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities such as:
- Play Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)
- Behavioral Therapy
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Monitor treatment progress and modify interventions as needed.
- Provide crisis assessment and intervention when required.
- Complete clinical documentation within organizational standards (typically within 72 hours).
- Maintain accurate treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure documentation meets medical necessity and insurance requirements.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical guidelines, and state licensing regulations.
- Collaborate with Psychiatrists, PMHNPs, Case Managers, Peer Support Specialists, and school personnel.
- Communicate treatment recommendations with parents/guardians.
- Provide referrals for additional services when appropriate.
- Participate in clinical staff meetings and case consultations.
- Provide therapy services via secure telehealth platforms and/or onsite sessions.
- Maintain a professional and confidential therapeutic environment.
- Implement engagement strategies to reduce no-shows and improve treatment adherence.
- Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries in virtual settings.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
- Active licensure or associate licensure in applicable state(s): LPC / LPC-A; LCSW / LCSWA; LMFT / LMFTA.
- Experience providing therapy to children and adolescents.
- Knowledge of child development and family systems.
- Ability to obtain credentialing with insurance panels.
- Play Therapy certification or training.
- Experience with trauma-informed care.
- Experience working with ADHD, behavioral disorders, anxiety, depression, or autism spectrum concerns.
- Experience in telehealth or outpatient behavioral health settings.
- Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
