Job Summary:
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical and inquisitive with good communication skills and ability to multi-task well. This role will contribute to all aspects of the billing and collections process to ensure timely claims submission and optimized reimbursement. This position must work in the office. This is not a remote position.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
Prepare and submit clean claims for provider charges to various insurance companies electronically
Review physician chart notes for accuracy with the charges being billed
Call insurance companies on old claims that have not yet been paid Answer questions from patients and insurance companies about patient bills
Identify and resolve patient billing complaints
Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone; correct and resubmit claims to third-party payers
Process payments from insurance companies and prepare a daily deposit
Enter demographic and insurance information
Maintain strict confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
Other duties as assigned
Requirements and
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Minimum 1-3 years experience in medical billing preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical billing / collection practices
Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices
Certified Professional Coder (CPC/CPC-A) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) preferred
Demonstrated work experience with Microsoft Word / Excel or Google Docs / Sheets required
Must be detail oriented, reliable, a team player, and must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to operate a computer, computer software, and basic office equipment
Excellent customer service skills, skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
Strong mathematical skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
Must be able to work in our Novato office (wearing a mask as needed). We are not offering remote work for this position.

In accordance with California law, the expected hourly range for this California position is between $24 and $27 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
