Job Summary

Full‑time (40 hours/week) Staff CNA caring for residents at Bruce McCandless Veterans Community Living Center in Florence, Colorado. This temporary position includes a short‑staffing pay differential of 4% from July 1 2025 to June 30 2026. Only Colorado residents may apply.

12‑hour shifts available for day and night. Shift schedule may change based on program needs.

• Provide direct resident care, assisting with activities of daily living.
• Arrange and adapt personal care items such as food, clothing, mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers).
• Assist with nutrition and hydration, observe dietary needs and recommend changes.
• Monitor resident safety by supervising whereabouts and interactions; refer to charge nurse if necessary.
• Collaborate with charge nurse and nursing staff for hygiene care, document observations, and evaluate treatment plans.
• Address psychosocial needs through direct personal contact.
• Deliver blood draws, transport residents to appointments, or to hospitals when required.
• Attend mandatory and non‑mandatory in‑services and workshops as required by state law and facility policy.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completed a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program and obtain a CNA license within four months of hire.
• Current, valid CNA certification from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (substitutes for high‑school diploma/GED).
• CPR certification and required vaccinations.

• Knowledge of resident care based on conditions, with judgment and accurate record‑keeping.
• Ability to recognize urgent or emergent situations and seek RN or MD assistance.
• Understanding of quality standards, procedures, and protocols.
• Specialized client care expertise relevant to the work environment.
• Experience in long‑term care or nursing home settings.
• Effective problem‑solving, communication, and confidentiality skills.
