Position: Addiction Medicine Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (0.8 FTE)

Position Summary

The Addiction Medicine Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) is responsible for providing direct care to patients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD), providing education, providing consultation, and participating in multi-disciplinary collaboration (e.g. psychiatry, pharmacy, security, etc.) in the WI Department of Corrections (DOC). This role will also assist in the development of a broader SUD-related health care program throughout the DOC, including training and consultation to staff in SUD-related healthcare, policy generation, quality improvement, and utilization of management services to assist in promoting quality healthcare for the patients with SUD in accordance with BHS policies, procedures and generally accepted professional standards within a correctional setting.

The Addiction Medicine APNP is part of the healthcare team with particular focus on providing leadership and direction in the specialty area of addiction medicine and treatment of SUD. The goal is to ensure development and implementation of evidence-based care that is delivered in a cost effective, responsible manner. The Addiction Medicine APNP will collaborate with correctional staff, administrative staff and medical staff to develop plans that will improve and make consistent evidence-based treatments throughout the DOC and providing education and consultation to the primary care providers.

The Addiction Medicine APNP will also collaborate with the Division of Community Corrections and community partners to develop and implement a comprehensive plan that will facilitate measurement of patient outcomes, maintenance of sobriety, and reduced recidivism.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 11-11 with a starting pay of $53.00/hour-$71.10/hour
. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Shift: Monday
- Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (4 days per week)

This position has the flexibility of a hybrid in-office and remote work schedule of 3 days in office and 1 day remote.
