The Program Director position is a tenure track assistant professor position in the Medical Laboratory Science department. In this leadership role, you will have a balanced workload of teaching MLS courses along with administrative duties, student advising and opportunities for research.

The NAACLS accredited MLS program at UAA is essential for Alaska’s healthcare. We are looking for a dynamic leader, passionate about laboratory medicine with a strong desire to provide innovative, industry level, research-based education towards the continued development and growth of Alaska’s clinical laboratory scientists.

A great candidate will have exceptional laboratory skills supported by an advanced degree in clinical laboratory science and research. A leader, this position requires excellent communication skills with students, faculty, and clinical partners, maintaining a strong network within the laboratory community of Alaska. Organized with experience in assessment towards curriculum development and understanding of NAACLS accreditation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current ASCP-BOC MLS(ASCP) cm generalist accreditation.
  • Master’s in Medical Laboratory Science or related field, Master’s in Public Health or Master’s of Arts in a related field with minimum of 15 graduate credits in laboratory medicine is required.
  • Five years of generalist bench experience within past ten years.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in Medical Laboratory Science for past three years.
  • Minimum three years of teaching experience in MLS program.
Position Details

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options;
Faculty Time Off; 12 paid holidays per year; tuition waivers for employees and family members; and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage; and representation under a Collective Bargaining Unit. Salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience.
