Physical Therapy Assistant Home Health Visits

Overview

Physicians Choice Home Health is recruiting for a Physical Therapy Assistant to join our Home Healthcare Team. In this role, you will provide quality home health visits to patients in their homes, under the direction of the physical therapist and according to the physician's plan of care.

• Provide direct physical therapy according to the physical therapist’s directions and the physician’s plan of care.
• Treat patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Direct and aid patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
• Utilize physical agents, including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
• Observe and report patient reactions to treatment and any changes in condition to the physical therapist and other home health personnel.
• Instruct patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
• Maintain necessary records and clinical notes within prescribed time frames for the patient’s clinical record.
• Participate in team meetings and inservice education programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate’s degree in science or applied science approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Current certification or license as required by state law.
• Current CPR certification.
• Ability to travel to different patients’ homes.
• Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Prior experience in a home health setting is preferred but not required.

PTA rates are $40–$50 per visit, and $25 per hour for in-services, trainings, and orientations. Per-visit mileage reimbursement is offered for W2 employees.
