The Dosimetrist role is part of our Radiation Oncology team at Garnet Health Medical Center.
ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Dosimetrist is a member of the radiation oncology team. Responsibilities include patient data acquisition, radiation treatment design, and manual and computer‑assisted calculation of radiation dose distributions. In consultation with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, the medical dosimetrist generates and documents the chosen treatment plan for each patient, upon the radiation oncologist’s final approval. The medical dosimetrist may also assist with aspects of treatment planning and the Quality Assurance program under supervision.
The medical dosimetrist reports to the radiation oncology medical physicist for clinical treatment matters and to the on‑site administrator for all other matters.
The compensation range for the role is $120,167 – $150,209 annual salary. Salaries shown on independent job sites reflect market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from Garnet Health System. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
QualificationsMinimum Education
- A graduate of a formal university, college, or hospital‑based dosimetry program of nine months duration or longer, and a year of practical supervised experience (for a total of 24 months’ duration).
- Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certificate and a college degree preferred with a minimum of two years as a staff working medical dosimetrist.
- A degree in the physical or biological sciences with on‑job training in dosimetry for 12 months under the supervision of a Medical Dosimetrist, Medical Physicist, and Radiation Oncologist, and one additional year practical, supervised experience in radiation therapy dosimetry.
- Sits a considerable part of the day.

- Must be alert, in control of equipment.
- Environmental demands: works in a clean, well‑lighted, heated or ventilated facility; no routine exposure to hazards.
- Physical demands: demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion, visual and aural acuity, finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment; can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking; lift 10 lbs.
Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, prioritize tasks, possess critical thinking, analytical skills, and flexibility. Ability to multi‑task with detailed attention in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
