Job Description - Infection Preventionist 2 (260001TB)
The Infection Preventionist (IP) 2 reliably demonstrates professional expertise in infection prevention and control (IPC) and applies both basic and advanced IP skills in the surveillance, identification, and reporting of communicable diseases and health‑care acquired infections according to hospital policy, professional and established guidelines and regulations. The role is responsible for collaborating to implement and sustain effective IPC strategies and for providing education as needed to physicians, team members, volunteers, and patients related to patient safety through IP practices.
Routine surveillance of the environment is conducted and potential hazards related to infection prevention are reported. All duties are performed in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Infection Prevention, Clinical Lab Science, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field
- Licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse or Medical Technologist
- Certification in Infection Control
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as an Infection Preventionist in an acute‑care hospital with completion of advanced IP training. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
