American Heritage Schools - Palm Beach County currently looking to hire a Speech Pathologist for the 26-27 school year.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Speech Pathologist is responsible for diagnosing and supporting students to help them overcome communication barriers and reach academic and social targets. They must be clinical experts who make sound diagnostic and therapeutic decisions, creating a supportive environment where positive relationships are built and evidence-based interventions are in place to foster student confidence. The Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing individualized therapy tasks for linguistic engagement, assessing progress through formal and informal measures, and collaborating with families and staff to ensure students achieve their full communicative potential.
PRIMARYDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate mastery of content knowledge and maintain a commitment to continuous professional learning.
- Ensure a high-quality learning experience by providing rich therapeutic tasks for student engagement.
- Deliver targeted treatment to improve speech sounds, sentence structure, and overall communication skills.
- Conduct screenings and utilize standardized diagnostic tools to identify disorders in articulation, fluency, voice, and language processing.
- Develop and implement specific plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Conduct diagnostic screenings.
- Maintain detailed clinician logs and data tallies to track progress and provide evidence for continued services or dismissal.
- Demonstrate caring and respect in interactions with students.
- Establish routines and procedures for a productive physical environment.
- Proactively communicate with parents and principals.
- Prepare progress reports and provide comments as needed.
- Conduct parent conferences to explain evaluation results and provide home-based strategies to support communication growth.
- Prepare for and attend essential school events, including but not limited to Back to School Night, Conference Days, and Professional Development Days.
- Consult with classroom teachers to help them implement speech-language accommodations in the natural learning environment.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional learning.
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
- Licensure and Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Experience working with school-aged children.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to facilitate and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to utilize educational technologies such as iPads, learning software, and basic word processing software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
