Director of PRS-CHW Training & Apprenticeships
Position is at Rhode Island College’s Institute for Education in Healthcare (IEH). The role leads a $2.3M HRSA funded initiative to strengthen integrated primary and behavioral healthcare through workforce development, including student training and apprenticeships.
Responsibilities- Establish and manage the HRSA PRS-CHW Workforce Development Program.
- Serve as liaison among RIC, HRSA, community partners, apprentices, and industry partners.
- Oversee training activities, monitor grant deliverables, and ensure effective program planning, coordination, and evaluation.
- Facilitate partner communication and support participant success by addressing barriers to retention and program outcomes.
- Provide oversight for weekly communication with community sites and monthly integrated team meetings.
- Participate in monthly grant meetings with partners.
- Monitor and inform PI/Co-PI and partners of participant conflicts, retention issues, and other obstacles.
Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director of IEH and the Director of the Community Health Work Association of RI.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities- Experience coordinating training programs.
- Strong planning, organization, and implementation skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work tactfully and collegially in challenging situations.
- Knowledge of healthcare and interdisciplinary models of care and experience building partnerships between higher education and employer partners.
- Ability to build and manage teams and participate as a team member.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication and able to work with diverse constituents.
- Good computing skills, including MS Office, databases, statistical software, and general computer knowledge.
- Master’s degree in a healthcare‑related discipline (or enrollment in a related graduate program with pending graduation within 6‑8 months).
- Experience with apprenticeships and community health workers.
- Experience overseeing training projects.
- Experience supporting community‑based organizations through higher education partnerships.

SalaryGrade 3NC;
Proposed starting salary range $60,000–$65,000.
- Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
- Includes evening and weekend training events, both in person and online; may require flexible schedule to maintain a 35‑hour work week and remote work to support online training and data work.
