OverviewSentara is hiring an Inventory Planner/Buyer, Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Independence for the Central Repackaging Pharmacy. Sentara Health is launching an innovative Centralized Pharmacy Service Center (CPSC) designed to transform medication distribution across the system. This cutting‑edge initiative leverages automation, robotics, and advanced inventory management systems to support acute care facilities with efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
We are seeking a Central Repackaging Pharmacy Technician / Inventory Planner to join the first phase of this groundbreaking project. This unique role combines hands‑on technical work with inventory planning responsibilities, making it ideal for someone detail‑oriented, tech‑savvy, and excited to help build new processes from the ground up.
Responsibilities- Perform inventory management responsibilities for the pharmacy under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates ownership of all pharmacy buyer functions.
- Demonstrate advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
- Work independently and competently.
- Assume local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks.
- Participate in the training of new employees.
- Provide peer coaching and constructive feedback to colleagues in a professional and productive manner.
- Fill and deliver medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
- Ensure adequate supplies and medications are available for continuous patient care.
- Triage and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice.
- Use appropriate systems for processing patient and financial information.
- Ensure quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
- Operate pharmacy equipment appropriately.
- Receive training in Pharmacy Inventory job functions.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required).
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required).
- 2 Years of Pharmacy Experience (Required).
- Pharmacy Inventory and Buyer Experience (Preferred).
