Job Summary
The Associate Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs – Neurological Disease will provide medical and scientific strategic and operational input into core medical affairs activities such as health care professional interactions, identification of clinical partners, and generation of clinical and scientific data. The role involves communicating study results through reports and forecasts, supporting commercial teams, executing launch tactics, collaborating on clinical development, and serving as deputy to the group leader when necessary.
ReportingThis position reports to the Senior Director, Medical & Scientific Affairs – Neurological Disease and is part of the Medical & Scientific Affairs organization.
Location & Remote WorkThis role may be fully remote, covering a global business area. Remote work is eligible for this position and may be performed from home.
Key Responsibilities- Perform gap analysis for Integrated Medical Plans; identify opportunities in Integrated Evidence Plans (IEPs) and drive these in Kaizen workshops.
- Develop patient journeys / disease maps with global franchise teams; develop study strategy, communicate internally and externally, train MSL team on study funnel management, and execute study strategy including budget.
- Forecast publications, abstracts, and posters; identify opportunities to leverage key data for presentations or other collateral with the MSL and commercial teams.
- Communicate and translate clinical/scientific insights from KOLs into actionable guidance for product development teams and contribute to Scientific Advisory Boards.
- Author all grants in the neurological disease area and support medical affairs activities, including dissemination of data supporting overall product scientific and commercial strategy.
- MD/PhD, MD, PhD, or PharmD required with 14+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of clinical trial methodology, regulatory requirements governing clinical trials and experience in the design of protocols preferred.
- Ability to interact externally and internally to support global business strategy; excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Represent Beckman Coulter at external meetings including investigator meetings, scientific association meetings, etc.
- Ability to coordinate scientific and medical activities with internal stakeholders (commercial, clinical operations, R&D, statistics, regulatory, etc.) in ongoing medical affairs projects.
Physical Requirements
- Travel a minimum of 20-25% of the time (domestic and international).
- MBA or master’s degree in a business related field.
- Residency or additional post‑doctorate experience, 10+ years of experience in the healthcare / research industry or equivalent; substantial understanding of relevant therapeutic area required.
The annual salary range for this role is $190,000 – $230,000. The position is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. Comprehensive benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) for eligible employees.
