Radiologic Technologist - St. Mary's - PRN

Overview

This job is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. The role also functions as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students. • Verify physician orders and procedures to assure accuracy.
• Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
• Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
• Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform notification/remediation as warranted.
• Assist in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population with respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanations of services or procedures, and obtaining permissions.
• Other related duties as required.
• Remain knowledgeable on current laws and accreditation standards and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.

• Education:
  
  Completion of a Radiologic Technology program in an AMA-approved school.
• Work Experience:
  
  None required.
• Certifications:
  
  Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); current license in the state of practice;
  Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Knowledge,
  
  Skills and Abilities
  
  (KSAs):
  Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficiency with Windows-style applications, software packages specific to the role, and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills.

The role may require 24/7 availability, travel between facilities, stooping, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Occupational risks include exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials in a healthcare setting.
