Remote Clinical Subject Matter Expert
100% remote job with 70% travel will be reimbursed. This is a remote position but still requires the candidate to travel up to 70% to VA EHR deployment locations. FY26 Deployment Schedule 13 VA Medical Centers in Fiscal Year 2026. Candidate will likely travel to any of the following VA sites:

The Clinical SME provides expert clinical knowledge and operational guidance during the deployment of a healthcare system across multiple sites. This role ensures that workflows, documentation practices and user adoption align with clinical standards and organizational goals, supporting a smooth transition during the active deployment phase. Serve as the clinical operations subject matter expert during deployment to ensure system workflow, support, patient care and clinical practice and support of end-users with troubleshooting of Functional Issues.
Act as a liaison between clinical staff and technical teams to ensure system configuration aligns with real world clinical needs. Identify workflow gaps or issues and provide recommendations for improvements. Assist with change management communication and stakeholder engagement at multiple deployment sites to ensure seamless communication and operational readiness.
Minimum qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional work experience
- Ability to travel up to 70%
- Assess information and knowledge-based needs of healthcare professionals and patients; characterizes, evaluates, and refines clinical processes; develops, implements, and refines clinical decision support systems, and leads or participates in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems, such as EHRs and order-entry systems. Works independently.
- Master's Degree Healthcare or related scientific, technical, or clinical discipline is required, or an additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements
Preferred qualifications:
VA experience preferred Experience implementing Electronic Health Records
