Senior Social Worker - HUD-VASH Case Manager
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
The VA Northern California Health Care System Social Work Service is currently recruiting for Senior Social Workers- HUD-VASH Case Managers.
A recruitment/relocation incentive may be authorized for highly qualified individuals.
HUD-VASH is an intensive case management program for chronically homeless Veterans aimed at providing psychosocial services to Veterans while residing in stable housing through HUD's Section 8 voucher system.
The Senior Social Worker in this position functions as the Senior Case Manager for VA NCHCS's Housing and Urban Development - VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH). The HUD-VASH Program falls within the Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Programs of the Social Work Service.
The Senior Case Manager is responsible for coordination of case management services for Veterans receiving housing provided through HUD Section 8 housing vouchers.
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing case management for a caseload of Veterans in the HUD-VASH program.
- Performing site visits of HUD-VASH apartments to ensure that Veterans reside in safe environments in compliance with local housing codes.
- Collecting and submitting HUD-VASH Program participant data as outlined by NEPEC evaluation procedures.
- Coordinating care including serving as an advocate on behalf of the Veterans to ensure comprehensive service delivery, and linking and referring Veterans to the VA Medical Center, VA Regional Offices and/or community agencies.
- Participating in program planning and development, advising the supervisor of shifting trends with caseloads and identifying the need for and making recommendations on program procedure or policy changes based upon work experiences.
- Conducting psychosocial assessments to determine needs of Veterans and family members.

The annual salary range for Redding, Yreka, and Chico is $86,563 to $112,532.
The annual salary range for Yuba City, Auburn, and Mather is $94,341 to $122,644.
The annual salary range for Fairfield and Martinez is $105,589 to $137,266.
