Purpose

National Account Director – Health Systems is responsible for driving sales and market growth within the largest healthcare systems, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and other organized customers.

Responsibilities
  • Sales Strategy and Execution
    • Develop a strategic account sales plan to achieve or exceed sales targets within assigned nationally targeted health systems and hospital networks.
    • Work closely with Regional Associate Directors (RADs) to identify key opportunities and formulate approaches to win new business.
    • Monitor market trends and competitor activities, adjusting strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
    • Pull through relevant national advocacy initiatives within targeted health systems and hospital networks.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Collaborate with the Area Vice‑President and Area General Managers (AGMs) to provide direction to RADs and achieve individual sales objectives.
    • Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to RADs, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
    • Work with Learning and Development to organize training sessions that improve the team’s knowledge of products, industry regulations, and account management techniques.
    • Engage in business development activities, including attending conferences, trade shows, and meetings with healthcare stakeholders.
  • Market and Product Knowledge
    • Serve as subject‑matter expert for the CVR franchise within health systems, providing guidance to internal teams.
    • Understand customer needs and healthcare system challenges to tailor solutions and support the value proposition of the company’s products.
    • Understand healthcare environment—including formulary, pathway, purchasing, and reimbursement practices—to position products effectively.
    • Develop an ecosystem by aligning relevant quality organizations with CVR initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Cross‑Functional Partnership
    • Work closely with local cross‑functional squads to ensure alignment in executing customer strategies at assigned national accounts.
  • Reporting and Analytics
    • Regularly report on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity.
    • Analyze sales data to identify areas for improvement and refine strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical sales experience in hospitals/health systems, with an account management focus.
  • Experience working with hospitals, health systems, IDNs, and organized customers.
  • Experience with cardiovascular products in health systems is required; heart failure experience preferred.
  • Proven success in formulary and pathway adoption and sales within health systems or hospital environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across field and home office teams.
  • Leadership skills to motivate a team to achieve sales goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel nationally; expected 25‑50% regional travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge in heart failure relevant to the company’s product portfolio.

  • Salary range: $192,077 – $288,116 plus bonus or incentive compensation.
