Speech-Language Pathologist
The Speech-Language Pathologist assesses, diagnoses, treats, and helps to prevent communication and swallowing disorder in children experiencing communication problems that affect classroom activities, social interaction, literacy, and learning. Essential Functions include screening, evaluating, and providing speech-language therapy for students with identified speech-language impairments as needed. The role also involves supporting student support teams, case management, instructing students/families in communication technologies, maintaining records, participating in meetings, drafting special education documents, and performing speech/language evaluations.
Supervisory responsibilities are not formal. Competencies include adaptability, integrity, teamwork, and professionalism. Minimum qualifications include a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology, three years of Speech/Language work experience, three years of teaching or special education experience, and relevant certifications. Other required qualifications include knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, proficiency in speech-language evaluations and therapy, collaboration skills, staff development, computer proficiency, and strong communication skills.
The work environment is primarily home-based with occasional in-office days and travel up to 50% of the time.
