Referral Specialist - TGMG Babcock Ranch (2600014M)
The referral specialist’s primary role is to provide excellent customer service to physicians and patients referred for appointments or services at Tampa General Hospital or a related company. The referral specialist assists patients and providers with scheduling provider‑referred appointments within the health system or facilitating connections to outside groups at provider direction or based upon patient preference. The referral specialist obtains or facilitates authorizations and may support the practice with non‑referral work including patient registration, appointment scheduling, and check‑in/out if working in a clinic.
EssentialFunctions
- Process and track patient referrals
- Facilitate transfer of medical records
- Identify and route patient appointment information to correct recipient
- Create, modify, and cancel appointments
- Obtain authorizations and/or referrals as required
- Correspond with providers and patients
- Index faxes
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience: 2 years experience in healthcare customer service
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Insurance authorization and referrals
- Medical terminology
- Customer service & communication
- Document indexing/filing
