Credit and Collection Specialist - Patient Accounts

In-office 1–2 days per week with flexibility for remote work. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance.

• Follow established guidelines to collect past‑due health insurance premiums and claims.
• Research validity of past‑due or disputed debt.
• Generate demand letters and prepare status reports for management.
• Follow up on aged and current patient receivables to reduce outstanding balances and improve cash collections.
• Review assigned accounts using Excel worklists, confirm demographics, guarantor information, and balance accuracy before outreach.
• Conduct inbound and outbound calls to patients, explain balances, answer questions, and negotiate/safeguard payments.
• Process credit/debit payments, post transactions, and document all collection activity in account notes.
• Demonstrate understanding of A/R concepts such as aging, denials vs. patient responsibility, payment posting impacts, and account status.
• Communicate respectfully and clearly with patients, including upset or confused individuals.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of commercial debt‑collection experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
