About Us:

The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy shall act efficiently, consistently, and impartially in the public interest to pursue optimal standards of practice through communication, education, legislation, licensing, and enforcement. The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy is the single State agency in Ohio responsible for administering and enforcing laws governing the practice of pharmacy and the legal distribution of drugs.

The Board consists of nine members who are appointed by the Governor for terms of four years. Eight of the members are licensed pharmacists who represent, to the extent practicable, each phase of pharmacy practice. One member represents the public. The Board has a staff of 90 employees that is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations and responsibilities of the Board.

Job Description

What You'll Do:
Specialists play a critical role in fulfilling the mission of the Board of Pharmacy by being actively involved in the progressive changes within the pharmacy profession. Specialists have the ability to work within an agency that is making positive strides to move the pharmacy profession to a new level of patient care as well as ensuring processes are in place to protect the public.

This Specialist position is assigned to the Southwest Region of Ohio and includes the following counties:
Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby and Warren. The headquarter county location assigned for this position is Butler, Clinton, Hamilton or Warren Counties. The final candidate selected for this position is required to live in or relocate to Butler or Hamilton County within 180 days from the effective date of hire.

Specialist

Job Duties:

Specialists work from a residential home office and are provided a state vehicle for official Board of Pharmacy business. Specialists play a critical role in fulfilling the mission of the Board of Pharmacy by being actively involved in the regulation and enforcement of laws governing the distribution of legal drugs in Ohio. Conducts inspections of diverse and specialized establishments where drugs are dispensed, manufactured, or sold for compliance with federal and state drug laws and regulations.

Investigates complaints of violations of drug laws and regulations. Assists in prosecution of violators. Provides in-depth counseling to pharmacists and drug distributors to facilitate compliance with state and federal drug laws and violations. Assists other Specialists, Agents, and Inspectors to expedite cases; and Provides drug information to pharmacists, distributors, and general public in order to promote awareness of drug abuse and laws.

Training:
If you are selected for the Pharmacy Board Compliance Specialist position, you will be required to complete a 16-week training. This training will take place in Columbus, Ohio and also in the field. Traveling to and from training will be required. The initial probationary period for all newly hired employees will be 365 days. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be set at step 1 of the pay range.
